MEGA STARS: School Year Reception

Your child will focus on practicing the Ten Core Skills for match play and get a huge sense of achievement.

Weekly Saturday morning classes 9-10am
Plus Weekly Tuesday afternoon classes 5-6pm
Plus Weekly Wednesday afternoon classes 6-7pm
The Barlow RC High School, Parrs Wood Road, Didsbury, Manchester M20 6BX.

The Sessions

Your child will see quick progress as they reach school age, particularly if they have participated in our younger classes. Playing with confidence and enthusiasm, your child's increasing efforts are quickly rewarded with leaps forward in skills and understanding.

Key features

Your child is rapidly building competence…



  • They get their first FC Bluestar football kit.
  • They build their 2v2 into 3v3 and 4v4, increasing challenge and complexity.
  • They move up to Size 3 junior footballs.
  • They work on a wider range of the Ten Core Skills, including practice at home
  • Sessions are more intensive and hone specific skills

Learning outcomes

While they’re having fun, they’re learning…

  • To build friendships and play fairly.
  • To keep trying new things until they succeed.
  • To understand team play tactics, specifically passing and moving.
  • To initiate contact, challenging for possession and using their body to shield the ball.
  • To gain five of the Ten Core Skills through repetitive practice: controlling, dribbling, running, passing, kicking, marking, tackling, shielding, throwing, and shooting.


While in this age group, they work towards Mega Star Awards for their new skills, with and without a ball.
